Welcome. Our Mission is to
Inform. Educate. Spark Action.“In this country, public sentiment is everything. With it, nothing can fail; against it, nothing can succeed. Whoever molds public sentiment goes deeper than he who enacts statutes, or pronounces judicial decisions.”
– Abraham Lincoln, Lincoln-Douglas Debates, 1858
This website concerns the dispute between the Residents of Peninsula Township, Michigan- (located on Old Mission Peninsula-OMP) represented by its duly-elected Board of Supervisors—and the Owners of 11 businesses operating in Peninsula Township under permits and licenses issued by government authorities. These wineries seek to become more than modest scale grape growers & processors/sellers of wine, to become large scale Entertainment/Retail/Food & Beverage/Meeting businesses which–if successful–would destroy the character of OMP as we know it today.
These businesses are involved in the
- growing of grapes on OMP
- the purchase, transportation and receipt of grapes from non-OMP sources
- the processing of grapes into wine
- the commercial marketing and selling of wine and other goods
- associated entertainment activities
- lodging
- food & beverage services
